Lanie Gilkerson was advancing on a green light at the intersection of Alexander Street and U.S. Highway 281 at 8:48 a.m., Feb. 1, when she was T-boned by a 2012 Dodge Ram 3500 pickup hauling a horse trailer containing two horses.
The driver of the Dodge, Raul Beltran, 44, of Rio Grande City, was cited for running a red light, according to Department of Public Safety Trooper Wesley Gray.
Acadian Ambulance Service transported Gilkerson, who also is the secretary for the Three Rivers Police Department.
Gray said that’s why he was investigating the accident to avoid conflict of interest.
In addition to the DPS, and Acadian, the Three Rivers Police Department was on hand for traffic control. Charlie’s Wrecker Service hauled the vehicles off.
