American Legion Post 193 is conducting a raffle. Monies raised will be used for scholarships, equipment for the color guard, funeral details and putting flags on veteran graves on Memorial Day and Veterans Day.

Post 193 puts approximately 500 flags at veterans’ graves in 18 cemeteries in Goliad County. The group has seven members who put out these flags. Their average age is 76.5 years.

Family members of a deceased veteran who would like a marker placed at the veteran’s grave can call Goliad County Veterans Serrvice Officer Jo Ann Ybarbo at 645-8221.

The Veterans Administration will furnish a marker at no cost to the family. Legion members can call Harold Gleinser at 645-5260 or Jim Schulze at 571-4049 to get tickets. The raffle drawing will be Friday, Dec. 14 at the annual Post 193 Christmas party.
