I am dismayed at the actions of the administration of Coastal Bend College this week. Last Friday, I spent from 10:30 in the morning until around 4:30 listening to the presentations from different parts of the business technology departments at our annual advisory meetings. All of these departments more than justified their existence and continuation with the revenue generated. However, as of yesterday, four positions have been eliminated for next year, including the person who has acted as chair and ACE liaison until now. How does this make sense?
I now feel like my time was wasted on Friday since these decisions were obviously already made in order for them to be implemented so quickly after receiving the data. Why ask for data and input if it will not be utilized in the decision making process?
There have been several regrettable actions taken at CBC over the years, but this is the epitome of back room politics and short-sightedness.
