Sheriff Robert Bolcik said Bayside took the brunt of the storms that began early Sunday morning.

“The National Weather Service warned that the Doppler radar indicated that the clouds passing through the county had circulation,” Bolcik said.

The sheriff said department personnel were on the lookout for tornado activity but never saw anything touch ground.

The National Weather Service also reported Bayside received approximately 15 inches of rain but the sheriff believes 4-6 inches is a closer estimate.

Bernice and Arnold Macias of Bayside reported their two rain gages filled up and overflowed.
