Benedict “Ben” Korzekwa, 88, of Denhawken, died Tuesday, April 9 in Seguin.

Ben was born November 1, 1924 in Denhawken to John and Cecilia (Jarzombek) Korzekwa. He began farming at the age of 13. In 1943 he entered WWII and served for two years in Italy and Austria. In 1945, he resumed his agricultural life. On April 30, 1955 he married Hattie Hoffmann. Ben was very active in his church and community, participating in 4-H Clubs, the USDA at the county level and served many years on the Wilson County Soil and Water Conversation Board. As a reflection of his Catholic faith, he recently received the Lumen Gentium Award from his home parish of St. Ann’s in Kosciusko.

Survivors include his sons, Gabriel (Bertha)Korzekwa, Johnny “J.B.” (Nancy) Korzekwa, Joey (Charlsie) Korzekwa, James (Gina) Korzekwa and Albert (Julie) Korzekwa; grandchildren, Blaise (Tara) Korzekwa, Kaine Korzekwa, Cindy (David) Harris, J.J. Korzekwa, Gus Korzekwa, Bradley (Jennifer) Korzekwa, Katy (Clayton) Kasprzyk, Julie (William) Eckel, Billy Korzekwa, Samantha Korzekwa, Thomas Korzekwa, Monica Korzekwa, Miles Korzekwa and Cecilia Korzekwa; great grandson, Jackson Eckel; sisters, Sister Loritta Korzekwa, Sister Lucy Korzekwa and Sister Janelle Korzekwa; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by his parents, wife Hedwig “Hattie” (Hoffmann) Korzekwa and sister Ann Wenzel (Korzekwa).

Visitation took place Thursday, April 11 at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Kosciusko with a Rosary Vigil held that evening at the church.

Funeral Mass was held Friday, April 12 at 10 a.m. at St. Ann’s Catholic Church, Kosciusko.Fathers Dennis Jarzombek, Jan Szpilka, S.D.S., Bill Zadora and Bill McNamara officiated.

Interment followed in St. Ann’s Parish Cemetery, Kosciusko.
