The Bobcats struck quickly in the first quarter moving the ball 84 yards on 12 plays culminating in an 18-yard touchdown pass from Travis Quintanilla to Marcus Thompson.
The Refugio defense held on the Brahmas first series forcing a punt. Quintanilla found Thompson once again this time from 44 yards out to make the score 14-0. East Bernard responded with a touchdown of their own to close the gap to 14-7.
In the second period Jack Gumm intercepted a Brahma pass that lead to a 25-yard field goal by Adolfo Cordero to make the score 17-7.
It took the Brahmas quite a bit of work to move the ball facing a strong Bobcat defense that included awesome plays by Dalton Klare, Devon LaFrance and Draigon Silvas. The Brahmas eventually made it to the end zone but missed the extra point to make the score 17-13.
Draigon Silvas then scored on a 6-yard touchdown run and a missed point after made the score 23-13 going into halftime.
In the second half the Bobcats could not get a break and would be unable to find the end zone in the second half while the Brahmas scored 41 unanswered points to end the Bobcats 2012 season.
“The kids really played their hearts out but it just wasn’t in the cards for us tonight,” said head coach Jason Herring. “I’m proud of each and every one of them for their accomplishments this season.”
And the Bobcats accomplished a great season scoring a total of 789 points and only allowing 156 points from their opponents.
The Bobcats left no doubt that they are a deep playoff contender and will continue to be so in the future.
