ODEM — The Skidmore-Tynan varsity Bobcat basketball team continued to roll through their district battles on Tuesday night with a 80-42 win over the host Owls.

The win improves the ’Cats record to 24-3 on the season and they stand undefeated at 10-0 in district. As of Monday, the Bobcats were the No. 22 ranked 2A team in the state.

The Owls stayed within single digits of the Bobcats in the first period, trailing by eight, 20-12, at the end of the first period. The S-T defense then picked up its effectiveness to shut down the Owl offense pretty much the rest of the way.

The Bobcats owned a 37-21 advantage at the half and that ballooned to a 61-30 lead by the end of the third quarter. The Owls had no answer for the Bobcat defense, or offense, as the final went to the visitors by 38 points.

“We got off to a slow start. As the game went on we were able to increase the pace,” said head coach Adam Wollam.

“We came out after the half and did a really good job on defense.”

Four Bobcats were in double figures for the game. Eric Schumacher led the squad with 21 points. Brandon East followed with 15. Johnathan Hernandez poured in 13 markers and Zeke Huerta sank 10. Erasmo Huerta added nine points while Ryan Scott and Aaron Hughes both made five for the Bobcats. Dominic Stewart finished with two points.

The Bobcats played host to the Mathis Pirates on Friday and will travel on Tuesday to meet the George West Longhorns.
