GOLIAD – Due to a technical malfunction of the balloting equipment, all but the early voting in Goliad County had been tabulated by 10 p.m. Tuesday night as Republican Kirby Brumby held a lead over Democratic challenger Paul San Miguel for the Goliad County Sheriff post.

Brumby had 836 votes compared to San Miguel's 574 after votes from Precincts 11, 12, 21, 22, 31, 32, 41, and 43 had been tabulated. Approximately 38 percent of Goliad County's registered voters cast their ballots before Tuesday.

In other races, Republican Michelle Garcia held a slim 697-683 lead over Democrat June Bethke for the Goliad County Tax Assessor/Collector post before early voting was counted.

Democrat Jacqueline Peuttus held a 331-295 edge over Republican Susan Moore for the Precinct Justice of the Peace position.
