When Election Clerk Mirella Escamilla Davis posted the final results with cellophane tape on the marble walls of the lobby — where the lighting was so dim that spectators used flashlights in order to read them — a group of sheriff deputies took long enough to see Carrizales’ tally before simultaneously yelling triumphant war whoops before exiting stage right.
Asked about his slim majority over Bill Lazenby, Carrizales said, “That’s why they call is politics.” Jennifer Carrizales, his seven-year-old daughter, was more succinct: “We won!” she said.
Lazenby, who earlier was seen at the Republican Headquarters next to the Rialto Theater on Washington, did not appear at the courthouse when Davis posted the final results.
Sheriff
Carrizales, a Democrat who received 3,923 votes, has served for seven years as sheriff, and has 22 years of experience with Beeville Police Department, serving as detective lieutenant, patrol lieutenant and detective sergeant.
Lazenby, who received 3,868 votes, says that he brings with him 40 years of experience in administration management and investigation within the law enforcement arena.
Lazenby currently serves as chief bailiff at the Bee County Courthouse.
County attorney
Incumbent Mike Knight, a Democrat, won with 5,036 votes beating Juan Eduardo Garcia with 2,624 votes.
Knight has 22 years of experience in private practice with knowledge of the oil and gas, real estate and family law — to name only a few.
Garcia has experience prosecuting cases in Hidalgo County and currently serves as an assistant district attorney in Bee County.
County commissioner
Incumbent Eloy Rodriguez, a Democrat, received 1,199 votes beating Dennis D. Phipps, a Republican, with 776 votes.

If Sheriff Carrizales did indeed win then I guess what Abraham Lincoln once said is true. You really can fool some of the people all of the time.
