Derek Castillo and Lauro Garcia Jr. played for the Havoc and helped the South Texas squad finish fourth overall in one of the biggest tournaments of its kind. Select teams from across the nation compete.
“Both LJ’s (Lauro’s) and Derek’s tremendous leadership, skills and abilities were instrumental in the success we had this past year. Each showed outstanding talents in the five-day tournament,” said Havoc manager Joseph Sanchez.
“All in all, Derek and LJ were outstanding. Watch out for these boys in the future; you can expect big things out of them.”
Castillo also got a chance to attend a Texas Rangers game with a few of his teammates. With the help of one of the stepfathers of two of the Havoc players, who had played minor league ball in the Ranger organization, the boys got to tour the Rangers’ dugout before the game and got to meet Rangers pitchers Yu Darvish and Derek Holland.
