PORTLAND – Charles “Stan” Stanton Beardsley, 80, of Portland, formerly of Refugio, died Tuesday, April 17, 2012.

He was born in Woodsboro on Jan. 21, 1932, to William and Gladys Beardsley.

He graduated from Refugio High School with honors, and then attended Sam Houston State. After enlisting in the U.S. Air Force in 1951, he became a F86D fighter pilot. While stationed in New York, he married his high school sweetheart, Shirley Ficklin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters and three brothers.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Shirley; sons Bill (Tresa) of Pleasanton, Mark of Aransas Pass; daughters Susan Morris (Phil) of Dallas, Sharon Rhyne (Aaron) of Portland, Patricia Gleinig (Greg) of United Kingdom, Janet Burks (Kevin) of Portland; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

A rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, April 20, at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 3110 E. Causeway Blvd., Corpus Christi, TX 78403.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 21, at the church.

The burial will be in Sinton Cemetery. Monetary contributions may be made to the Monsignor Vincent Patrizi Hall fund at Our Lady Star of the Sea Church.
