By Abigail Hepworth, age 11, American Heritage Girl - Explorer

On Dec. 11, the Karnes City Cub Scout Pack 115 visited the Karnes City Police Station. The pack kindly invited the American Heritage Girls to go with them.

When we were there, we got to wear the beer goggles. It makes everything look very strange, and you can’t walk straight. We found out why you should never drink and drive. One of the police officers told us about their gear. They also talked about an officer’s duty and that even when they are “off work”, they are still the police and have duties. The children asked several questions and got answers to all of them. They each got a police badge sticker, and when they left the police station, the children had lots of fun pretending they were officers. We even took turns getting fake tickets and being arrested. We also talked about never drinking and driving.
