Both employees, one long-term and one recently hired, submitted resignations. In addition, the city has been without a certified worker in the plant and is relying on LNV Engineering, its engineering firm, to furnish the credentials needed to run the plant.
“Last night we hired Dave Furzer, who was working at the plant under LNV before we hired him,” Councilman Frank Hosey said.
The council hired Furzer as the superintendent over the wastewater plant at a department head salary of $47,840. The city will now have four departments heads in that salary range.
“We had to have a certified operator at the plant,” Mayor Ray Jaso said. “As a matter of fact, we’re required to have two.”
