BEEVILLE – Coastal Bend Crime Stoppers is offering a cash reward to anyone who can provide information that could lead to an arrest in a hit-and-run accident that happened earlier this month.

Police Chief Joe Treviño said the accident occurred in the 1900 block of North Adams Street just after noon on July 3.

The 35-year-old victim of the collision told officers that she was traveling in the 2000 block of North Adams in the inside lane and as she approached the intersection at the 100 block of Trojan Drive, a silver Ford Mustang drove out of Trojan Drive and struck the right rear tire of her vehicle causing her to “fishtail” before stopping.

The victim said the driver of the Mustang turned north and left the scene without making any attempt to see if anyone had been injured or to leave contact information.

She said that as she pulled off the roadway, two Hispanic men approached her and said they would call police. They then took debris from the Mustang out of the roadway.

The debris included part of a front bumper and a headlight.

The victim said the two men took the debris with them into the Lantana Apartment complex and they disappeared. The men never did return to the scene, and the victim called police herself.

Officers responding found skid marks from the vehicle that fled the scene, but any debris that had been there was gone.

The driver was only described as being a Hispanic male wearing a white shirt.

Officers filled out an incident report and turned it over to detectives in the BPD’s Criminal Investigation Division. But detectives have not been able to identify a suspect.

Crime Stoppers offers rewards of up to $1,000 to anyone who can provide information that leads to an arrest in any such case.

Witnesses may remain anonymous. sCrime Stoppers can be reached by calling (361) 362-0206 or by calling toll-free to (877) 362-0206.
