Editor:

It has come to my attention that County Commissioner Stanley Tuttle from Precinct 2, who filed under the Democratic ticket, was helping the Republican candidate for county judge, Bobby Blaschke, this weekend.

They went together to Precinct 4, Austwell-Tivoli area and were soliciting votes for Blaschke, the Republican candidate for county judge.

I was asked by several concerned citizens why Commissioner Tuttle from Precinct 2, who filed under the Democratic ticket, would be assisting a Republican candidate to solicit votes for him, in Precinct 4.

Well, I for one do believe everyone has a right to vote for the candidate of their choice.

I encourage everyone of us to practice your right to vote, even our candidates, but I also truly feel if you feel the need to solicit with and endorse votes for a candidate from the opposite party, one should then file under that party or as a Libertarian.

Please do not mock the Democratic Party.

Each Party has different beliefs and plans for our community.

This is the beautiful part of the election process.

Please do not file under the Democratic Party and then voice the opinions of the Republican candidates.

That is not only mocking the Democratic Party, but also can be misleading and confusing to those Democratic voters who have supported you, Commissioner Tuttle, in the past and possibly in the future.

I have contacted several people from the Texas Democratic Party level about this practice.

Although I have not mentioned names to them as of yet, I will get the rules of this practice and follow up with all concerned voters.

I may be contacted at 361-661-9512 regarding this concern.
