Beeville — On Saturday, downtown Beeville will transform into a winter wonderland.

Complete with snow and the big guy himself, Santa Claus.

Children can get all day bracelets for just $5 and do everything that’s happening during the event.

The entire event kicks off with Santa’s arrival at 2 p.m. at the local sweet spot, A Box of Chocolate.

There, children can tell Santa what they want for Christmas and get their pictures professionally taken for just $5.

And at the Downtown Depot Pavilion, the Snowflake Park will open with 40,000 pounds of snow delivered for everyone to enjoy.

And while they play, the stage will be packed with live, local talent.

And for the older kids, there will be a giant rock climbing wall, joust matches and a bungee run sure to test the most athletic of children.

The Peppermint Park will be open as well and can be found on the side of the Joe Barnhart Library.

There will be a giant slide, moon jump and water bubbles for those who wanted to know what it’s like to walk on water.

Mrs. Claus will also be inside the library reading stories to the kids. They can also do some holiday arts and crafts while they’re there.

The Peppermint Palace, located right next door to the Rialto Theater, will feature the Philip and Henry Magic Show at both 2 p.m. and 3:30 p.m.

There will also be musical performances throughout the day.

For those old cinema lovers, the Rialto will have an open house starting at 3 p.m., so anyone who wants to tour the historic theater can do so.

But if you’re just tired from all the holiday shopping, feel free to take a carriage ride around downtown with the family or a loved one.

And all this can be done over and over again, all day for just $5.

The night will end with the annual Winter Wonderland Lighted Parade which is always a sight to see.

Even though the day will be packed with fun and exciting events, there’s also something special happening.

Beeville Main Street director Michelle Wright explains, “The City of Beeville Main Street program is teaming up with Toys for Tots and the Lions Club’s Share the Warmth to try and get people to bring new, unwrapped toys and gently used coats to our Holly Jolly Christmas event so we can make an impact on our community.”

So, when you grab that jacket out of your closet, bring that old one you never wear anymore and drop it off.

“You’d be surprised by how many people in our community don’t have coats. Children as well as older people,” Wright added.

Or, if you’re out doing your Christmas shopping and you see a really good deal on some toys, try and think about some of the less fortunate kids around the area and pick one up and bring it by.

All the coats and unwrapped toys will be distributed by the Beeville Vineyard and will all go to our younger community members.

The Holly Jolly Christmas events kick off at 2 p.m., and there will be tons to do, see and hear, so make sure you come out and enjoy a day with your neighbors and kids.
