With the impending retirement of current FCISD Superintendent Linda Bettin, the school board approved a “Lone Finalist” at the meeting, after weeks of reviewing and interviewing qualified applicants for the new superintendent position.
Tylor Chaplin, currently a principal at Huckabay ISD in Stephenville, was the Lone Finalist that was approved after Chaplin had a final interview during a closed meeting session of the board meeting.
“‘Lone Finalist’ means that the district has offered him the position, but may not take action for 21 days,” said Superintendent Linda Bettin after the meeting. “This is a requirement that all districts must wait 21 days after the selection of an applicant for superintendent before a contract may be signed.”
Bettin will retire after the current school year, with the new superintendent set to begin duties at the start of the 2013-2014 school year. More information will be forthcoming when the superintendent selection becomes official and finalized.
In other matters, the council reviewed the resignation of food service staff member Lillian Moy, who will be retiring after the current school year, after 26 years with the district. Moy, however, will still be available in a substitute capacity when needed.
“She’s going to sub for us,” said Bettin of Moy. “ She knows how hard it is for us to find food service subs, so she said she would be back. She’s enjoyed her time with us.”
