I have written at least two times before about the $10,000 that was approved by this council to burn up fireworks in about one hour.
As I said previously, I do not know the exact terminology of the hotel/motel tax that is acquired by the town of Refugio but I do believe that the main purpose of this tax is to invite and encourage people to come to Refugio.
It is my opinion that this community would be better served if this money was spent in cleaning up the town and tearing down old, abandoned, dilapidated structures.
I don’t know about you, but I would rather come here to visit and live in a clean community rather than watch fireworks.
Talk to your city council members, tell them how you feel, it is time to make a change.
