He grew up in Refugio, TX graduating from Refugio High School in 1962. After graduating from Southwest Texas State College, Frank started his career as secondary math teacher in Refugio ISD but spent most of his career as an accountant/IT manager for Quintana Petroleum and later Hilcorp Energy in Refugio.
After retirement he devoted his time to ranching, his church, and his friends & family. He was a jack-of-many-trades and a tireless tinkerer who seemed to know how to fix or build anything.
Through the years, he shared these skills with many folks who found themselves in a bind. He loved to sing. He was a member of First United Methodist Church of Victoria and active in the local Walk to Emmaus Community.
He is survived by his children Ed & Carrie (Baum) Hendrix of Victoria and Carlton & Kristen (Childress) Hendrix of San Antonio; two brothers, Phillip Hendrix and wife Sharon of Lufkin, Danny Hendrix and wife Damone of Graham; and his treasured granddaughters, Abigail and Marguerite Hendrix of Victoria and Sarah, Julia, and Caroline Hendrix of San Antonio.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother John Morgan Hendrix. He passed with his loving wife of 42 years, Margaret Ann Hendrix
Pallbearers will be his nephews Jason Hendrix, Jared Hendrix, and Jordan Hendrix, cousin, William Dye, and former co-workers A.C. Gonzales, Frank Lemkowitz, and Ronnie Rothe. Honorary pallbearers are members of the New Horizons Sunday School class at FUMC Victoria.
Margaret Ann (Henry) Hendrix, 66, of Victoria passed away Monday, April 28, 2014. She was born December 4, 1947 in Beeville, TX to the late Charles Willis Henry and L. Marguerite Williams of the rural community of Hope in Lavaca County.
She grew up in Kenedy, TX graduating from Kenedy High School in 1965. After graduating from Texas A&I University, Margaret Ann taught elementary school for almost 40 years in Refugio ISD (Stricklin Primary), Nursery ISD (Nursery Elementary), and Victoria ISD (DeLeon Elementary).
Following retirement, she continued to teach as a part-time reading specialist at Shields Elementary, served in numerous ministries of her church including visitation, outreach, and children’s ministries and loved doting on her granddaughters.
Teaching children was her passion and every student was important to her. She never met a stranger and had the gift of making all feel special.
She treasured relationships and community with her family, fellow teachers, and friends. She was a member of First United Methodist Church of Victoria and active in the local Walk to Emmaus Community.
She is survived by her children Ed & Carrie (Baum) Hendrix of Victoria and Carlton & Kristen (Childress) Hendrix of San Antonio; sister, MinnieLu Sutton and husband John of Refugio; and her treasured granddaughters, Abigail and Marguerite Hendrix of Victoria and Sarah, Julia, and Caroline Hendrix of San Antonio.
She was preceded in death by her parents. She passed with her loving husband of 42 years, Frank E. Hendrix, Jr.
Pallbearers will be her nephews Chip Sutton and Sam Sutton and cousins, Richard Jacobs, Donnie Williams, Pat Williams, Tim Williams and Chad Dye. Honorary pallbearers are members of the New Horizons Sunday School class at FUMC Victoria.
The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday, May 2, 2014, at Rosewood Funeral Chapels.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Saturday, May 3, 2014, at First United Methodist Church, Rev. Jarrell Sharp officiating.
Graveside services will be held at 4 pm, Saturday, May 3, 2014, at the Hendrix Family Cemetery in the community of Red Rock, Bastrop County, TX.
