It was a very busy week at Goliad Middle School.

Red Ribbon Week was a great success and the National Junior Honor Society would like to thank all the teachers and students for participating.

The seventh- and eighth-grade reading teachers would like to thank all the students who dressed up for the character costume contest for Teen Week. The best seventh-grade boy contest was a tie between “Ralph the Mouse” (Nathan Oliver) and “Huckleberry Fin” (Seth Verrett). The best seventh-grade girl contest was also a tie between “Cupcake Sophie” (Emily Von Dohlen) and “Nancy Drew” (Madison Heineke).

The best eighth- grader was Makenna Thigpen, who dressed up as Effie Trinket from “The Hunger Games.”

The GMS Student Council selected the following officers for the 2012-2013 school year - President Rhett Davis, Vice President Michaela Berger, Secretary Roxanne Morris, and Treasurer Madison Heineke.

The eighth-grade class officers are President Toni Jo Garcia, Vice President Kayla Stock, Secretary Casey Tislow, and Treasurer Kendall Muehlstein.

The seventh-grade class officers are President Preston Mackay, Vice President Nathan Oliver, Secretary Trey Ingram and Treasurer Tino Reyes.

On Nov. 20, the NJHS will be going to the elementary school to read and work on skills with the kindergarten class.

GMS would like to congratulate the eighth-grade football team for winning the district title.

Congratulations to the eighth-grade Lady Cubs for becoming volleyball district champs. The seventh-grade Lady Cubs placed second in district.
