Garcia and Orr win, Prop 1 and 2 pass

Residents can make a toast to Sam Garcia as Three Rivers' new mayor and to Jimmy Orr as District 5's new George West Independent School District board member because Prop 1 and Prop 2 each passed.

Garcia beat Tim Stroleny with 133 votes to Stroleny's 66 votes on Saturday, May 11.

Orr won the George West School Board seat with 135 votes to Josie Chaplin's 67 on Saturday as well. Out of the 705 eligible voters for the District 5 election, 202 people voted in the George West election.

Prop 1, off premises consumption of liquor, passed with 100 votes in favor and 66 against. Prop 2, in premises consumption of liquor, pass with 117 votes in favor and 56 against.
