The theme for the show is “Special Occasions.” Members have chosen titles for their tables that carry out the overall theme. Such titles include “By the Sea,” “Summer Shine,” “A Garden Party,” “Birthday for Mom,” “An Enchanted Forest,” “King’s Crown” and “Simple Elegance.”
Members use dishes, flatware, floral arrangements and other accessories appropriate for each title. Dishes are chosen from many sources such as those bought at the local dollar store, treasured dishes from family collections or special, hand-painted dishes that were created by local artists. The table show also includes “miniatures” which are arrangements in tea cups or other small vessels.
The show is an unjudged event that provides Garden Club members an opportunity to be creative and share with their community.
Special features of the show include an Japanese orgami (paper cutting) demonstration by Jim Ramsey at 10 a.m. Wednesday. Ramsey will be creating hearts and flowers and teaching basic steps of the process. On Thursday at 10 a.m., Gwen Dewitt of Beeville Garden Club will teach the basic steps of flower arranging. Her flower arrangement will show the “caged design.”
An important feature of the event is the “Country Store.” The store will offer gifts and special sweets for your valentine. This is an opportunity for the community to select delicious homemade goodies baked with love by club members.
