Mr. West was born Oct. 30, 1938, to Freida and Phillip R. West Sr. in Refugio. He worked for EMJ in Independence, for 50 years as a truck driver and retired in 2009.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Survivors include his wife, Cherrian West; two sons, Brian L. West and Bruce A. West, both of Independence; two sisters, Phylisia (Jack) McDonnel and Becky (Solon) Neely, both of Victoria; two brothers, Bobby (Cindi) West of Refugio and Phillip “Ricky” Jr. (Pasty) West of Houston; a granddaughter, Desiree’ Tieman; and a great-granddaughter.
The family will conduct a private service at a future date. In lieu of flowers, consider contributions to the American Cancer Society.
