She was born Nov. 17, 1914 in Falls City to Louis B. Dziuk Jr. and Elizabeth Urbanczyk Dziuk. She and Prosper Pawelek were married July 23, 1935 at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, Falls City. Gertrude was a housewife. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Fashing and a member of the Altar Society.
Survivors include her daughters, Lorraine Pruski of San Antonio, Vivian Behrends of Fredericksburg, Helen (Wilbert Lee) Moczygemba of Schertz, and Barbara (Larry) Kotara of San Antonio; son, George Pawelek of Coy City; 11 grandchildren; and 24 great grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; husband Prosper; granddaughter Judith Behrends; son-in-laws Eldren Pruski and Christian Behrends; brothers Louis Jr., Wallace, Ben and Felix Dziuk; and sisters Adela Lyssy, Amelia Kowalik, Faustina Lyssy and Mary Pawelek.
A rosary was recited at 7 p.m., Thursday, Jan. 10 at Rhodes Funeral Home Chapel, Karnes City.
The funeral Mass was celebrated at 10 a.m., Friday, Jan. 11 at St. Cornelius Catholic Church, Karnes City.
Pallbearers were Scott Behrends, Douglas Pruski, Kevin Pruski, Kenneth Pruski, Stephen Pruski, Clark Behrends, Brian Moczygemba, and Brad Moczygemba.
