Going back 50 years?

Once again, Pct. 1 Commissioner Carlos Salazar has come up with a great idea to put Bee County employees education requirement for employment 50 years back.

The great pool of workers that he talks about made a conscious decision to terminate their education for their own personal reasons.

If the court approves the removal of the education requirement, will they be removing the criminal background check and drug test soon after? If you do this for one department, you have to do the same for the rest of the county departments. Otherwise, you are discriminating.

In fact, this should open a big can of worms, because a lot of county institutions and businesses have been omitting the requirement of a GED or high school diploma to acquire their work force.

The only real difference between a wise man and a fool is that a wise man tends to make more serious mistakes and that’s only because no one trusts a fool with really crucial decisions. Only the wise have the opportunity to lose.
