Goliad County Judge David Bowman said the drought index Monday was 595 and the projected index for the next 14 days was 634 with no rain in the immediate forecast.
The threshold for a burn ban is 600. The burn ban passed by a 4-1 vote with Precinct 4 Commissioner Ted Long being the only dissenter.
