Goliad County’s unemployment rate rose to 5.8 percent from 5.6 in May. A total of 214 residents out of the county’s labor force of 3,505 filed unemployment claims.
Overall, the Golden Crescent’s jobless rate rose from 5.3 to 5.7 percent over the past month. Calhoun County had the highest unemployment rate at 7.0 percent, which is up from 6.6 percent in May.
State jobless rate was reported at 6.9 percent. A total of 890,835 Texas residents filed unemployment claims in June.
Other jobless numbers for Golden Crescent counties were DeWitt (5.3), Gonzales (5.2) Jackson (5.7), Lavaca (4.9) and Victoria (5.8).
