To do so, local board members are asking for the support of churches, organizations, corporations and individuals as they prepare for their first fundraiser. They have completed two “Brush with Kindness” projects in preparation for building a new home.
Faith Lutheran Church is sponsoring a barbecue chicken fundraiser with the Bee County Habitat for Humanity board of directors on Sunday, Sept. 8, from 11:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the church, 1500 E. FM 351.
The meal with dessert will be priced at $7 per ticket and can be eaten at the church or picked up in a drive through line. Tickets can be purchased at Bee Agricultural Co. (358-3470), from Don Taylor (362-3443), Chip Latcham (358-2550), Monica Fox (542-1137), or other members of the board of directors.
This event is a “Care Abounds in Community” activity of Thrivent Financial, the Gulf Coast Chapter of Thrivent, and is being celebrated on “God’s Work, Our Hands” Sunday of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.
Churches and Habitat for Humanity have been big supporters of improving the housing needs of America, said Don Taylor, Bee County Habitat officer. Through the work of the fraternal organization, Thrivent, Habitat members will be receiving “matching funds” for their work.
