The Badgers came off to a fantastic start by scoring on the first play of the game with Rhett Kelley scampering for a 60-yard touchdown run. The Badgers continued their assault with Ty Burson, Thomas Yanta, and Wesley Lover all contributing on offense.
“The offensive line consisting of Garrison Moczygemba, Andres Moncada, Ivan Kotzur, Matthew Henderson, Nolan Janysek, and Peter Baldaramos led to the success of the Badger ground game,” Coach Bobby Perez said.
The Badger defense held strong and shut down the Mustang offense. Kelley finished the game with two interceptions. Baldaramos, Moncada, Ty Burson, Blake Janysek and Chris Brambilla all contributed to the Badgers’ success, Perez noted.
On Oct. 11, the JV Badgers defeated the Cotulla Cowboys 8-6. The Badgers had a slow start and trailed the Cowboys 6-0 at halftime. A blocked punt by the Badger defense led to Cib Braun completing a tipped pass to Peter Baldaramos to tie the game. Wesley Lover had a crucial block that allowed Rhett Kelley to ease into the end zone for a two-point conversion.
The Badger defense held the Cowboys in the fourth quarter. Peter Baldaramos forced a fumble and Rhett Kelley recovered late in the fourth quarter. The Cowboys had one more chance to win backing up the Badgers behind their red zone, but the mighty Badger defense stood strong and sealed the win.
