Jo-An married Ronnie Booth of Three Rivers, Texas, on September 12, 1954. Jo-An and Ronnie lived in Alvin, McAllen, and Calallen, Texas, before settling back in Live Oak County to raise their family.
Jo-An was very active in the George West and Three Rivers communities. Her sons graduated from George West, and Jo-An worked in Three Rivers at Bea Furr Bookkeeping and Tax Service. She was also a partner in Paisano Transmission Company. Jo-An was the Treasurer of the First United Methodist Church in Three Rivers and was a former Treasurer of the Three Rivers Chamber of Commerce. Jo-An received numerous awards including Lion’s Club Citizen of the Year and Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year. Her highest achievement was being a servant for the Lord.
Jo-An’s overriding passion in life was deriving joy from her total devotion to her family and her church. This family included you, if she knew you, and she was selflessly committed to helping others in need wherever she could. A high school basketball all-star and cheerleader, she was an avid sports fan, ready to suit up in support of her teams at any time. She quickly mastered any puzzle or game and was an amazing cook, known far and wide for her chicken fried steak, homemade banana pudding and brownies just to name a few. She loved watching her boys and her grandchildren in any activity and spent countless hours in stadium seats, logging thousands of hours on the road to cheer them on. She loved her husband and family deeply and was always ready to take on any challenge in loving support of them. She did it all with enthusiasm, style, class and grace and, like all the great ones, she made it all look easy.
Jo-An is survived by her husband of fifty-eight years, Ronnie; one son and daughter, Jeff Booth and Kathy Augustine Booth of Boerne; another son and daughter, Gregg Booth and Colleen Brennen Booth of Cypress; five grandchildren: Kasey Alice Ann Booth, Reagan Gregory Booth, Jean Taylor Booth, Mackenzie Erin Booth and Camille Brennen Booth; brother, Zeb Furr, and sister-in-law, Doris Adami Furr of Freer; sister, Freda Sawyer, and brother-in-law, Edgar Sawyer of Pleasanton; brother, Berry Bridges, and sister-in-law, Jo Bridges of Pleasanton; sister-in-law, Verner Jim Booth Kothmann of Pearsall; and many nieces and nephews.
