VICTORIA — Joe Cornelius Watts 88, died Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012.

He found work in the oil field after his discharge from the Army Air Corps., and moved his family to Refugio. He owned several businesses over 45 years. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge and held every office in the local Lodge, and was awarded the Golden Trowel service award twice.

Joe and Marjorie returned to Victoria in 2002. Joe was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church, and had been ordained an elder while a member of First Presbyterian Church, Refugio.

He was born on May 2, 1924, to Harry Otis and Sarah Wilkerson Watts in Ravenden Springs, Ark.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, his sister, Sarah Elizabeth Watts, one brother, Bobby Adams, and step-mother Mary.

Survivors include his wife of 68 years, Marjorie Watts; two daughters, Nancy Watts and Laura Kinnison; one son, Bruce Watts, all of Victoria; six sisters, Wanda Miller of California, Mary Del Wren, Betty Rone, Mae Broadway, Mary Ella Green and Dolly Arnold, all of Arkansas; three grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were his grandsons, Will Kinnison and Jess Kinnison; nieces Carol Butler and Katherine Schuelke; and nephew Don Schuelke.

Honorary pallbearers were Robert Obsta, Doris Obsta and Claire Obsta.

Visitation was held from 5-7 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 18, at Rosewood Funeral Chapel.

A funeral service was conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, Dec. 19, at at Rosewood Funeral Chapel, with the Rev. Dan Fults officiating.

Burial was in Memorial Park Cemetery.
