Mrs. Almaraz was born March 28, 1935, in Beeville to Guadalupe and Felipa (Vasquez) Rodriguez. On June 8, 1973, she married Juan V. Almaraz at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, where she served diligently as a lecturer, reader, Eucharistic minister and in the Saint Anne’s Society. Civicaly, she was a member of the Woodmen of the World. She enjoyed quilting, dancing and babysitting, operating a day care center from her residence many years and caring up to some 77 children during that span.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Andrea Elizalde; a brother, Lupe V. Rodriguez Jr.; and two nieces, Mary Cecilia Rodriguez and Barbara Jean Rodriguez.
Survivors include her husband, Juan Almaraz of Beeville; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Visitation wase held Friday, May 16, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Treviño Funeral Home and resumed from 5 to 9 p.m. at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. A rosary was recited there at 7 o’clock.
The funeral Mass was celebrated Saturday, May 17, at 10 a.m. at OLV with Father Luke Thirunelliparambil officiating. Interment followed at Beeville Memorial Park.
Pallbearers were Guy Daniel Rodriguez, Daniel Amador, Antonio Almaraz, Nicholas Rodriguez, Andres Almaraz and Jared Fulghum.
Honorary pallbearers were Jerry “Boy” Garcia, Quinn Carranco, Chico Rodriguez and Luis Alaniz Jr.
