Mad Science of San Antonio will present their one-hour Marvels of Motion show Thursday, June 6 at 10:30 a.m. Mad Science events are science theme shows designed to amaze and entertain kids, whether they are tasting burping gas or watching an awe-inspiring explosion. Marvels of Motion is an interactive event all about the fundamentals of moving science including Newton’s 3 Laws of motion and all sorts of surprises including dancing, egg-tossing, and even alien antennae. Kids will even have a chance to compete in wacky events.
The Trailblazer is coming to Karnes City Public Library on June 11 between 1 and 3 p.m. The Trailblazer is a traveling science exhibit filled with hands-on activities centered on magnetism, energy, aerodynamics, space science, weather and medical sciences. The Trailblazer is suitable for all ages but targets 3rd – 7th graders. The Trailblazer engages students with interactive projects and an experiment related to math and science and creates an awareness of careers in science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Everyone is welcome to come, explore, and participate in this exciting learning experience. Science Rocks! is free and open to the public. This program is a collaboration between the Karnes City Public Library, the Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering, Central Texas Library System and the Texas State Library to provide fun summer learning for students primarily in rural areas.
Tim Cole of the Austin Reptile Service will be bringing his “Snakes of Texas” program to the library on Thursday, June 13 at 10:30 a.m. The program will consist of both venomous and nonvenomous species, including cottonmouths, Mexican milk snakes, coral snakes, copperheads, rat snakes, diamondback rattlesnakes. Some displays will show commonly confused species side-by-side. The public is welcome.
Magician Cody Fisher will be at the library on Tuesday, June 18 at 10:30 a.m. The 40 minute show will have magic, storytelling and audience participation. Arrive early and you can decorate a magician’s top hat to wear during the program.
