KLUTCH Student Ministries: Off with their Hair
KLUTCH Student Ministries put a price on their heads of hair to raise money for needy families over the Christmas season. They raised over $6,500 and had to cut their hair. This is what transpired. Double click video for full screen.

Well, sort of.
Even though the young men lost all their hair and one young lady lost a lot of it, they all together raised around $6,500 and provided six families with a Christmas that included food, presents and even Christmas trees.
The Klutch Student Ministry members came up with the idea around early December to have the three boys volunteer to shave their heads if they raised a certain amount of money.
Josh Muñoz and Avery Young received $300 each to shave their heads.
Katelynn Garibay was asking $500 to lop off more than 10 inches, while Andrew Forbes asked $5,000 to shave off his signature afro.
With all the money turned in and the Christmas trees and gifts delivered to the families, it was time to do the deed.
So, at the packed New Life Baptist Church, congregation members gathered around and watched as, one by one, the students took clippers to their scalps.
Crystal Schultz from Viva La Glam was brought in to wrangle Forbes’ afro and fix up Garibay’s do after her hair was chopped, by her sister of all people.
Both Garibay and Forbes were able to donate their hair to the “Locks of Love” charity as well.
Needless to say, the event went off without a hitch and raised more than the ministry had planned.
And the youths are already growing out their hair for next year’s event at which they hope to help out more families throughout the community along with members of their church.
New Life Baptist Church is located at 2106 Jones Road in Beeville.
