Going into their game against Moulton last Tuesday, the Lady Badgers felt nervous. After all, Moulton was state-ranked in Class 1A.

But the Lady Badgers managed a decisive victory, 54-22, and upheld their undefeated season.

Sophomore post Morgan Kelley led all scoring with 12, while senior guard Jonie Reyes chipped in 10 and senior post Lani Pitts 8.

On the JV end, the Lady Badgers rolled over Moulton 50-15 and continued their winning streak. Sophomore Clara Gotthardt tallied 11 points, while freshman Amanda Chesser had 10 to lead in scoring.

The Lady Badger Basketball team blew away their competition to claim first at the Pleasanton Tournament.

Seniors Lani Pitts and Aileen Lundquist and sophomore Morgan Kelley earned All-Tournament honors.

In Round 1 last Friday, the girls took out San Antonio Hawkins 55-20, with Lundquist leading all scorers with 15 and senior Jonie Reyes added another 10. At half, the Lady Badgers led 32-7. The defense allowed only one Hawkins girl to score in double digits.

In the second round, the girls met hosts Pleasanton and defeated the Lady Eagles 66-24. Kelley totaled 16 points, followed closely by senior Courtney Pieprzyca with 14 and Lundquist with 10. The defense did not allow any of the Pleasanton athletes to make double digits.

In the championship round vs. Devine on Saturday, the girls won 49-16. Pitts was high-point scorer with 12, while Kelley chipped in 9 and Lundquist added 8. The girls outscored Devine in every quarter, but Coach Burke Braun had hoped they would have hit more of their shots and equaled the performances of previous games.

The varsity girls will appear in the Karnes City Tournament this Thursday, Friday and Saturday, while the JV girls travel to Goliad Friday and Saturday for a tournament.
