SAN ANTONIO — The Lady Trojan varsity basketball team captured a few wins and some valuable floor time at the San Antonio Southside basketball tournament over the weekend.

Not all games were reported, but the Lady Trojans won two of the match-ups. Early in the tournament, the Beeville girls captured wins over Lockhart and Somerset.

The Lady Trojans topped the Lady Lions by six points, 59-53. Later in the day, the Beeville girls dealt the 3A Somerset Lady Bulldogs a 50-44 setback.

On Saturday, the Lady Trojans took on the host Southside Lady Cardinals and lost a nail-biter 51-49. It was reported that the Beeville girls played this game without starter Victoria Elizalde, the leading scorer for the team early in the season.

The Lady Trojans made a special trip back to San Antonio on Monday for an afternoon game with the Orange Grove Lady Bulldogs. That contest was to be played at the home of the San Antonio Spurs, the AT&T Center.

On Tuesday, the Lady Trojans were to be back in Beeville to tangle with the Ingleside Lady Mustangs.

The Lady Trojans will resume play after the Thanksgiving holiday on Nov. 30 with a road game against the George West Lady Horns.
