Lions baseball team beats Runge, Woodsboro

Spring break was good to the Lions as they hosted the Runge Yellow Jackets on Tuesday March 12th and won 12-2 and then traveled to Woodsboro on Friday March 15th and beat the Eagles 14-4.

In the Runge game the Lions starter Isaac Cruz would go 5 innings in the victory giving up 2 unearned runs on 1 hit while striking out 10 in the process.

Leading the way at the plate was Rolie Zepeda going 2 for 2 scoring 3 times.

Dominic Cruz would go 1 for 1 and also score 3 times.

Isaac Cruz would go 2 for 4 and RayJ Garza went 1 for 2 with a 2B. Kris Bryan went 1 for 2 as well.

Jeremy Rodriguez went 1 for 3 with a 2B.

JD De Los Santos would end the game with his bunt single with no outs.

In Woodsboro the Lions would score in bunches as they would score 6 in the second and 7 in fourth to give starter Dominic Cruz plenty of run support as he would give up 2 earned runs and 2 unearned runs behind 4 innings on the mound striking out 10 on the three hits that he surrendered.

Rolie Zepeda would finish off the Eagles in the fifth striking out the side. Jacob Asebedo went 2 for 2 at the plate scoring once and driving in two runs. RayJ Garza and Kris Bryan both went 2 for 3 and scoring 2 runs each. Dominic Cruz went 2for4 with 3 rbi’s.

Rolie, Isaac, Jeremy, JD all went 1 for 3. Eddie Villarreal went 1 for 4 with a triple.

It was a all around offensive show as each Lions got a hit and scored in the game.

The Lions are now 3-0 in district play and next play at home against Pettus on Friday March 22nd.

The next week after that the Lions will be on the road as they travel to Three Rivers on Tuesday March 26th and then travel to Port Aransas on Thursday March 28th to end the first round of district play.
