The Teach Loud, Learn Proud program at Moreno Middle School is off and running again this year. The program, which was started three years ago by John Johnson, is now in every math class at MMS.

As the first six weeks rolled to an end, the Loudmouth Math All Stars were chosen. The 6th-grade all stars are Lauren Guerrero, Serena Castro and Jacob Guzman. Seventh-grade all stars are Gabriella Reza, Dominic Jackson and Diana Paul, and 8th-grade all stars are Brittany Arredondo, Michaela Chavarria and Mark Carabajal. The All Stars received a Loudmouth Golf hat, a certificate designed especially for MMS by LM golf, pencils, grips and other goodies.

Each six weeks, a whole new group of Loudmouth All Stars will be announced. Along with the All Stars, there are several academic clubs that go along with the Teach Loud, Learn Proud program. The numbers in each club are high — so much that more than 80 percent of the student body was affected positively by the program.

“I am very glad and honored to see that this program has had such a positive impact on our school,” Johnson said. “Without the Joe Barnhart Foundation, Larry Jackson and Loudmouth golf, this program would not be possible,” he added.

As the year rolls on, MMS and the Loudmouth Math program have many more projects on the way. “It’s amazing to see how the Teach Loud, Learn Proud program has encouraged our students to work harder, not only in math, but in other areas. Again, a big ‘thank you’ goes out to Mr. Johnson, Loudmouth Golf and The Joe Barnhart Foundation for helping us help our students,” MMS Principal Joni Barber said.
