NUECES COUNTY – MEND is coming to Nueces County. MEND is an acronym for – Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do it! The MEND 7-13 program is an evidenced based and sustainable solution to the child obesity crisis. The program is a free 10-week, after-school weight management course where overweight and obese children between 7 and 13 years old and their families learn to develop behaviors that support sustainable, healthy lifestyles.

MEND is set to kick off one pilot program at the YMCA of the Coastal Bend July 27. Each program will host 15-18 families, and the biweekly meetings will be held at the YMCA.

If you and your child are interested in registering for MEND, contact Marisa Ramon at the YMCA or Sarah Smith at Catholic Charities of Corpus Christi, Inc., Healthy Living & Advocacy Center, phone: 361-442-2224, ext. 21.
