“This one was by far the hardest game and biggest test this young group has had in their two-year tenure at Moreno,” said MMS coach Ricardo Maldonado.
Canas led the scoring with nine points. Garcia added eight tallies and Gonzales contributed six points.
“It was an awesome feeling with the game so intense and having the kids rally together to support their teammates. Defensively, Steve Barrera, Michael Virrata, Bryan Reyna and Jacob Castro stepped up big in the tournament,” Maldonado said.
The 8A Trojans sport an undefeated 7-0 record overall on the season and are 3-0 in district play.
“I’m very proud of this group for their efforts they have displayed and their motivation to keep on getting better,” Maldonado said.
The young Trojans faced Tuloso-Midway on Monday night and will travel to Flour Buff next Wednesday to play Flour Bluff.
