Margaret was born on July 20, 1939, in Three Rivers, Texas, to Eulalio Garza, Sr. and Rufina Reyes Garza. She was one of fourteen children in her family. She married the love of her life, Audelio Salazar, Jr. on October 27, 1957, and together they shared 55 years of love and companionship.
Margaret was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend to many. Her warm loving smile and kind words will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all those whose lives she touched. She was the happiest when everything was clean and in order and when she could spend time with her family and all those she loved and held dear to her heart. She adored each and every one of her children and grandchildren as only a mother and grandmother can. She enjoyed cooking for everyone and planning family and holiday gettogethers. It was a tradition each year after Thanksgiving to get together with her husband and daughters to make tamales for all of us to enjoy during the holidays. Some of her other favorite pastimes were gardening and working with her plants and going shopping out of town with her daughters and granddaughters.
She was a lifelong Christian and member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Three Rivers, TX. She accompanied her husband to mass each Saturday until the exhausting and painful symptoms of her illness prevented her from being able to continue attending mass each week. She always felt that although she was unable to physically attend mass with her husband and family she was there with them in heart and spirit. She sought comfort by praying the rosary and when she could no longer pray it herself she would ask her children and grandchildren to pray it for her.
You have taught us Mom, how precious each day is in this life. We thank God and feel so blessed for the love you gave us and the years that He gave us with you. We will never forget your warm heart and all the wonderful meals you prepared for us, our family gatherings and all of the holidays we spent together, the vacations we took together, and the way you would call and sing each one of us happy birthday on our birthdays each year. Your love and legacy will continue to live through your children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and you will remain in each of our hearts forever. We know in our hearts that you will be praying and looking out for each and everyone of us from heaven and that someday we will see you again in God’s kingdom.
