O.V. “Buddy” Brown, 85, of Brownsboro, died Wednesday, April 17, 2013, in Tyler.

Mr. Brown was born Oct. 24, 1927, in Munday to O.V. and Emma Manuel Brown Sr. He graduated from A.C. Jones High School in 1947; he attended Texas A&M and was a yell leader in 1949. In 1953, he graduated from Texas State University, formerly Southwest Texas State University, with a master’s degree in administration. He was employed in several public schools as a coach and teacher.

In his retired years, he enjoyed being outdoors and spent many hours in his large vegetable garden and tending his many flower gardens. He also was the owner of Chandler Feed.

Survivors include his wife of almost 63 years, Virginia Taylor Brown; two daughters, Roxie (Jerry) Holley and Charla (Dee) Hendrix; grandsons, Jeffery Fulgham, Josh Fulgham and Cody Kidd; and six great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends at Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, April 18.

A celebration of life service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 19, at the graveside at Chandler Memorial Cemetery with Rev. Buddy Powell officiating.
