The post offices of Beeville (above) and Pettus (below).

Beeville's post office was constructed in 1917-18 and designed by Architect James A. Wetmore. The shooting of Drayman J. P. Hermes by post office contractor R. B. Brown during construction, the subsequent trial of Brown, guilty of homicide verdict and appeal (which was won in the Supreme Court), established by law the right to self defense in the U.S.

The first post office in Pettus was built in 1886, David W. Hodges serving as the first postmaster. The new post office building was dedicated in 1970.
