CORPUS CHRISTI — Refugio High School sophomore Travis Quintanilla and senior Shiloh Whetsel were selected to the 2012 South Texas Pre-Season High School All-Star Baseball Team sponsored by the Corpus Christi Hooks.

Quintanilla is selected for the shortstop slot and Whetsel is an outfielder pick.

Players chosen for these squads were recognized at the 8th Annual Winter Banquet, on Wednesday, Jan. 25 at 6:30 p.m. at the Omni Bayfront Hotel in Corpus Christi. 

Others recognized at the banquet included Texas Rangers pitcher Mike Adams, former Hooks J.D. Martinez and Dallas Keuchel and other collegiate and high school players. 

Former Astros Enos Cabell and Jose Cruz shared the podium as featured speakers.
