Members of VFW Auxiliary 9170, American Legion Unit 274, First United Methodist Church, St. Mary’s Academy and St. Philip’s Church are worked together to obtain items to be sent overseas to our active duty military personal.

Items such as hand sanitizers, wipes, soap, shampoo, conditioner, deodorant, tissues, socks, powders, toothpaste, toothbrushes, candy, packaged cookies, gum, books and a variety of other items are packaged and sent. Both organizations are accepting donations of all these items to be sent. Personal size (small) items are needed, along with a variety of other snacks, playing cards as well as writing materials, batteries and drink mixes are always welcome. Large containers are not feasible to be carried in backpacks. No glass items please.

Donations can be dropped off at 1801 S. Washington or 300 W. Hutchinson St. Call Teresa Holland at 358-1550 for more information. If you have someone that you wish to send a care package, let her know. All packages are sent to individuals that will be shared with others. There are still many service personnel still overseas that are in need of these items. The next boxes will be mailed in late June.

“Help make life a little brighter of our service men and women overseas,” organizers say. “These items are not available any other way except from care package from home. Your generous donation will be greatly appreciated.”
