Summer track sizzles, Bee youths compete at FB

FLOUR BLUFF – Summer track is off and running as the youngsters competed in their first track meet of the season over the weekend.

The younger athletes competed Friday while the older group competed at Corpus Christi’s Cabaniss Sports Complex on Saturday. Their results will appear in another story in the Bee-Picayune.

“All runners, jumpers and throwers did a great job for the first meet of the season. We are shaking off the rust and refining and retuning. Everyone is looking good and will get better with every practice,” said summer track coach Linda Luna.

4x100-meter relay

In the Primary division, the Beeville A team of Carrah Davis, Annica Gonzales, Serenity Manzano and Kaydence Menchaca placed first with the B team coming in second in the event. The Beeville B squad is composed of Kyra Davis, Kai-li Casarez, O’Maley Carrillo and Mikenna Willow.

The boys A team placed first in the relay with squad members Manny Liserio, Ethan Estrada, Matthew Soliz and Marcus Gabriel. The B team of Jackson Hughes, Manuel Hernandez, Marco Menchaca finished third in the event.

In the Bantam girls division, the Beeville A team placed third. Team members included Lana Garcia, Ariana Ruiz, Yanelli Aguilar and Megan DelBosque. The B team foursome of Salma Manzano, Faith Sandoval, Victoria Garza and Destiny Manzano were sixth.

The Midget division girls’ squad of Julia Nail, Jacqueline Hernandez, Jolie Carrillo and Amidy Moreno placed sixth. The A team of boys placed first with a time of 56.78. Squad members included Logan Kimbrough, Gabriel Carranco, Alex Aguilar and Carlos Escamilla.

100-meter dash

In the Primary girls division, as in most divisions several heats were run with ribbons going to the first six place finishers in each heat. Alizen Moreno placed fourth in her heat while Annica Gonzales was second as was Carrah Davis. Kai’li Casarez placed fifth. Kaydence Menchaca crossed the finish line first in her race. Maggie Moreman was fourth. Mikayla Cascalano was fifth and Mikenna Willow ran to a first place finish. O’Maley Carrillo placed third and Randi Aguirre was sixth in her heat. Serenity Manzano captured a second place ribbon.

The Primary boys in the 100-meter dash also fared well. Audarryon Moses was third in his heat. Brian Rivas placed sixth. Ethan Estrada won his race Manny Liserio placed fourth as did Mauel Hernandez. Marcus Gabriel captured a first place ribbon in his race. Matthew Soliz placed fourth while Peyton Tavarez captured third place.

In the girls’ Sub-bantam division, Ariana Ruiz was third in the 100-meter event. Destiny Manzano placed fifth and Faith Sandoval finished sixth. Megan DelBosque captured a second place finish. Victoria Garza was fifth and Amanda Camacho was fourth.

The Bantam girls had Danyelle Adamez place third and Lana Garcia finished sixth.

In the Sub-midget girls, Beeville had Amidy Moreno come across the line in third. Jacqueline Hernandez was fourth in her heat and Jolie Carrillo was fifth.

Desmond Givens placed first in the Bantam boys event with Malakhi Moses capturing a third place spot.

For the Midget girls, Abigail Gonzales placed sixth and Julia Nail fifth in the 100-meter dash. Megan Gonzales placed third.

Carlos Escamilla and Logan Kimbrough placed first in the Midget boys’ sprints. Connor Hughes was a fourth place finisher and Stephen Moreno was third.

200-meter dash

In the Primary girls’ division, Alicia Garcia placed third. Alizen Moreno finished fourth while Carrah Davis ran to a first place finish in her heat. Kai-li Casarez placed fifth and Kaydence Menchaca was second. Maggy Moreno plced fifth and Randi Aguirre was sixth.

The Primary boys had Audarryon Moses capture a second place ribbon. Brian Rivas was third. Ethan Estrada placed first in his heat. Jackson Hughes placed fifth as did Manny Liserio. Marco Menchaca placed sixth while Marcus Gabriel won his heat. Matthew Soliz placed fourth in the 200-meter dash.

The Sub-bantam girls got a second place finish from Ariana Ruiz. Danny Manzano was fourth and Faith Sandoval was sixth in the 200-meter dash.Salma Manzano placed third in the Bantam girls’ division. Desmond Givens was first in the Bantam boys’ competition while Malaki Moses was fifth in the event.

In the Sub-Midget division, Amidy Moreno was second as was Jacqueline Hernandez. Jolie Carrillo placed third.

In the Midget girls class, Abigail Gonzales placed fourth with Julia Nail finishing fifth. Megan Gonzales placed sixth.

The Midget boys’ races had Carlos Escamilla crossing the finish line first while Connor Hughes finished third. Logan Kimbrough also won his heat for the Beeville boys. Stephen Moreno placed fifth.

400-meter dash

In the Primary girls’ races, Alicia Garcia placed third while Annica Gonzales captured a second place ribbon. O’Maley Carrillo finished fourth.

Ethan Estrada was first in the Primary boys’ division with Brian Rivas placing sixth. Matthew Soliz captured a fourth place ribbon.

Danyelle Adamez was first in her heat in the Bantam girls’ division while Yaneli Aguilar was third. In the Sub-Midget girls’ group, Jolie Carrillo was fourth in the 400-meter event. For the boys’ in that division, Alex Aguilar placed third.

Demi De Leon was fifth in the Midget girls’ division and Gabriel Carranco finished third while Logan Kimbrough won his heat in the 400-meter.

800-meter run

Gabriel Carranco ran in the tough 800-meter run and placed third with a time of 2:57.

Field events

In the long jump in the Primary girls’ competition, Kaydence Menchaca placed first with a leap of 11-0. Carrah Davis was third at 10-2. Megan DelBosque was third in the Sub-Bantam long jump with a 10-7 effort. Araina Ruiz jumped 9-10 for fifth place.

Danyelle Adamez placed fifth in the Bantam girls’ long jump at 11-5 while Yaneli Aguilar was sixth at 11-4.5.

Desmond Givens placed third for the boys in the Bantam division with a 11-6.5 jump. Jacqueline Hernandez placed second in the Sub-Midget girls long jump at 11-11. Alex Aguilar jumped 12-6 for a second place spot on the boys’ side.

Midget division competitor Carlos Escamilla captured first in the long jump with a good leap of 17-6.5. Gabriel Carranco was second at 14-6. Logan Kimbrough finished fourth at 12-9.

In the shot put event, Sub-Bantam competitor Lana Garcia placed second with a toss of 17-4. Faith Sandoval captured third place at 10-7. Midget division Demi De Leon captured second with a throw of 19-11.

The youngsters were in George West on Friday.
