Dalton Sturm, who was named the tournament’s Most Valuable Player, had 26 points for the Tigers and teammate Carl Roy, who was named to the all-tournament team, added 14.
On Thursday, the Tigers (7-3) opened the tournament with a 71-62 victory over El Campo as Sturm poured in 36 points with nine rebounds, six steals and four assists. Davis Ohrt, who was also an all-tournament selection, had 11 points and Eric Long added 10.
On Friday, Sturm’s 22 points led the Tigers to a 60-33 rout of Bloomington. Later Friday, Sturm had 11 points and Denton Ohrt added 10 in a 53-23 win over the Industrial JV.
On Tuesday in Mathis, Goliad defeated the Pirates 56-43 behind 13 points, five rebounds and five steals from Roy and 11 points and nine rebounds from Sturm.
Goliad also won the JV game 50-31 behind Alfred Ortiz’s 17 points to improve to 5-0 on the season.
The Tigers hosted Yoakum on Tuesday before hosting the Goliad Holiday Tournament Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Teams entered in the tournament are Goliad, Schertz John Paul II, Poth, Edna, Stockdale, Yorktown, Hallettsville, Mathis, Woodsboro, Karnes City, Taft and Yoakum.
