Tilden FFA finishes strong in fall judging

Members of the Tilden FFA Chapter wrapped up the fall FFA judging season earlier this month. Forty-seven members of the chapter competed in the Wintergarden Invitational Career Development Events held in late September.

One week later, 27 members competed at the Area X Career Development Events held on Oct. 5 at the Welder Wildlife Refuge in Sinton. The Senior Homesite Evaluation and the Senior Range Judging teams qualified for the State CDE’s which will be held in April at Tarleton State University.

All results are as follows: Senior Range team: first in Wintergarden Invitational, first in Area, qualified for State;

Joaquin Cavazos was first high individual at Wintergarden and fourth high at Area;

Nolan Barnes-third high at Invitational;

Clay Atkinson - first high at Area;

Ashely Lewis - third high at Area;

Jimm Casas, Jasmyn Smith, Macy Ruiz, Kye Maddox, Brady Palacios, Senior Homesite Evaluation team: second in Wintergarden, first at Area, qualified for State;

Amanda Flores - fourth high in Wintergarden, second high in Area;

Joseph Stanley - fifth high at Wintergarden, sixth high at Area;

Bubba Franklin - ninth high at Area;

Trent Ruhmann, Chase Watt and Austin Brown, Senior Land team: ninth at Wintergarden, eighth at Area;

Raney Hanks, Kyle Engelking, Mariah Mesa, Donnie Soward, Fisher White and Marianne Ramon, Senior Plant ID team: fourth in Wintergarden, third at Area;

Michele McCartney - ninth high at Area;

Heather Gillin, Austen Serrata, Andrew Zielonka, Destinee Thomas, Cody Bond, Trey Kuenstler, Mahala Harper, Danielle Dawson, Vicky Hernandez, Pate Robles, Jordan Voldan, Chris Chatman and Hailey Ruiz, Greenhand Plant ID team: fifth in Wintergarden, seventh at Area;

Cassidy Howard, Olivia Truelove, Jayson Smith and Christian Garza, Greenhand Range Team: second at Wintergarden, second at Area;

Gaige Kuehlem - second high at Wintergarden, third high at Area;

Tyler Gunter - third high at Wintergarden, ninth high at Area;

Mitchell Park - fourth high at Wintergarden, fifth high at Area;

Taryn Walker - fifth high at Wintergarden, 7th high at Area;

Clayton Lee - eighth high at Wintergarden;

Tucker Smith - ninth high at Wintergarden;

Amber Chatman, Phillip Hooper.

One interesting and noteworthy mention: The Gateway FFA District uses the Wintergarden Invitational results to give awards. Five of the Tilden teams were first place in district rankings, while the sixth team placed fourth. There were five Tilden FFA members who were District High Point individuals.
