I would like to thank everyone in this generous community who supported our 2012 Toys for Tots program. Thanks to many local businesses, organizations, offices and churches, A.C. Jones High School and Coastal Bend College clubs and classes, our local Marine recruiter Staff Sgt. Andrew Ortíz and a huge number of kind individuals, we collected 1,242 toys, 87 books and 1,420 stocking stuffers (small gifts), and the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation provided an addition 900 toys. These were given to some 875 needy children in the community.

For our first official year as a Toys for Tots community organization, our program was highly successful. Next year, we hope to purchase many books in addition to toys with money donated through the Pantry Stores and other monetary donations. The Toys for Tots program encourages us to give every child a book, in addition to at least one toy and a stocking stuffer or two, and this year, we didn’t have time to collect or purchase enough books to do that. Next year, we’ll add “and books” to all our toy collection boxes!

We believe that the gifts provided through Toys for Tots made a difference in the lives of many children, and we appreciate the wonderful help given by so many of you which enabled us to make their Christmases happier.
