Trojan netters win gold, silver at Orange Grove Invitational

ORANGE GROVE – Trojan Eric Dehnert and Lady Trojans Cori Moore captured gold medals at the Orange Grove High School Invitational on Thursday. Graham Traylor and Emily Barris won the silver while Robert Reyna and Colton Wren brought home the bronze.

Dehnert won his fourth consecutive tournament, defeating Garcia of Bishop, 6-1, 6-1, in the finals. Moore also won gold, defeating Bishop’s Brenda Reyna, 6-1, 6-1. Dehnert and Moore went 3-0 in the tournament.

In mixed doubles play, Graham and Barris reached the finals by defeating Olvera/Wagner (Bishop), 6-3, 7-6 (9-7). They were defeated by Garza/Ramirez (Bishop) in the finals, 6-3, 6-4. Graham and Barris went 2-1 in the tournament.

Roberto Reyna and Colton Wren took the bronze medal in boys’ doubles. They defeated Vasquez/Rodriquez (Refugio) 8-3 to take the third place medal. Reyna and Wren were 3-1 for the tournament.

Other Trojans competing in the tournament include Tyler Stewart, 1-1, Samantha Ramon, Karla Martinez, Cori Sparks and Paige McKinney, 1-1.

The Trojans travel to Kingsville on Thursday to play in the Kingsville “Super 8” Shootout.
